Sending Binary Numbers
Purpose: Students will get to invent a protocol that allows them to send a list of binary numbers to represent a drawing .
Activity: Students will develop a protocol that will allow them to send the coordinates of a shape to their partner.
- Partners will be given a handout with 3 different sized graphs. The Graph
- Small Graph: With your partner, write a Binary protocol that will allow you to transmit the points of a shape to each other.
- Draw the Shape!
- The teacher will draw a shape on the Small Graph and hand it to Partner A, who will convert the drawing to Binary numbers, using their protocol and pass it to Partner B to redraw it.
- Repeat - Partners will write a Binary Protocol for the medium sized graph. Draw the Shape!
- Repeat - Partners will write a Binary Protocol for the large sized graph. Draw the Shape!
