Purpose: Students will acquire a greater understanding of how the internet works.

Journal: What do we know about how the internet works?

• Have partners fill out post it notes (specific color) with what they know.
• Have partners fill out post it notes (specific color) with what they don’t know.
• Stick on board.

• Who are Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn?
• What was ARPNET?
• Who owns the Internet?

Journal: Go to the following website: IETF.org

• What is the purpose of this site? Research who is the IETF and what do they do?

Activity: Explore the Internet Simulator (Code.org_U2Ch1L1 "Welcome To The Internet.") Ignore #1-#3 - Go To #4 The Internet Simulator.
This activity is only meant to introduce students to the Internet Simulator.

• Log in. Find a partner/partners in the lobby and select "join".
• Take 5 minutes to Explore/Play with the Internet Simulator.
• Begin communicating with your partners. Do you notice the Sent & Receive Logs? Take a look at My Device.
