Distance Learners:
Below is the lesson plan that you usually see me write on the dry erase board in class.
Please
follow the lesson as it appears below. It will have you understand and interact with Data Trends.
When you reach the Red Sentence below...it will have you answer questions on a Google Doc I set up for you in your CSP class folder.
Purpose: Students will learn how to find and explain trends in data.
Handout: Data Trends (open!)
(Open and read explanation of Data, Trends and as an example…Google/Trends.)
Continue exploring comparisons of search trends that are interesting to you. You might start by looking up:
- A current event / social movement / hashtag / meme
- Your favorite hobby / movie / song / book / celebrity
- Popular apps / businesses / products / websites
Here are some things to look for:
Research Project: Trends In Data
As you explore, you should eventually settle on one topic you find particularly interesting, to you. You will analyze the trends and present your explanation in a Google Doc titled “U4Ch1L2_DataTrends” that I left for you in your CSP Class folder in your drive.
Here is a Model I created to help you: click here.
Here are the questions you will analyze while exploring the data trends in regards to the topic you have selected:
- Describe what topic you entered and whether you narrowed your search by using filters. Create a Comparison. Take a screen shot of the graphs and enter it onto the document.
- Accurately explain what the charts or other visualizations are showing.
- Come up with a possible story or explanation of why the trend you described might have happened
