Personal Innovations - Shark Tank
U1Ch1L1

Purpose: By asking the students about their interests, it allows everyone to get to know them and will increase their enthusiasm in the class.

Journal: “What’s something that you know a lot about? Something that you could teach somebody?”  - Individually

  1. Then, have them share their entries with the class.
  2. Give them a moment to write in their journals something they can teach us about it or tell us something interesting about it.
    1. Call them back and have them teach the class.

Shark Tank! - Brainstorm Technological Innovation
Go around the group, and for each individual’s area of interest:

  1. Ask them to develop a Technological Innovation that could really be useful in their field of interest. Call them back and ask them to explain their idea to the class.
  2. Present on Post It Poster:
    1. Provide the students with time to present their ideas to a Shark Tank of investors. They will stand up in front of a group of investors with their Poster and share their ideas. The Poster at a minimum should have a title, brief explanation and a hand drawn image of their idea.
    2. All the investors (students) will be provided with money (100, 50, 25, 10). At the end of the presentations, the Investors will hand money over to the students who they would like to invest in their product. The investors must state why they liked certain ideas and why they were not investing in the other ideas.
    3. At the end, count the money and see which idea got the most support.
