Day 2&3: What is a Computer?  (50 min.)

Purpose (Day 2): Students should have a greater understanding of what a computer is.

Set up group desks and partners.
Distribute Journals

Ask students to look around the room and state the number of computers they see in the room.

• Share the number with a Partner...Share with their Group...then with the class.

Journal: Explain how all pages in the journal should be set up.

• Ask students to define a computer in one sentence in their journals. Share with Class.
  • Create A Class Definition!

Ask the students to think of an item outside of this class, in the world at large, that they would consider a computer.

• On a Dry Erase Board...draw it and title it. Then students will explain why they consider it to be a computer.
• Monkey Wrench: Brain??
