Purpose: Students will learn that it takes Data and Patterns to develop Machine Learning.
Vocabulary: Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence
Video: How AI Works: First, Machine Learning
Assignment: Students classify objects as either "fish" or "not fish" to attempt to remove trash from the ocean.
- Then, students will need to expand their training data set to include other sea creatures that belong in the water. In the second part of the activity, students will choose their own labels to apply to images of randomly generated fish. This training data is used for a machine learning model that should then be able to label new images on its own.

Journal:
- How do you keep keep Training Data from being biased? (collect tons of examples from lots of sources).
- In "A.I." what is the Code? (Data!)
Assignment: Students classify objects as either "fish" or "not fish" to attempt to remove trash from the ocean.
- Students will choose their own labels to apply to images of randomly generated fish. The end result of this assignment is that the Training Data should become biased. Students will see in the end that their Training Data is different.
Video: How A.I. Works: Impact on Society.
Assignment: Teach A.I. a New Word.
- Here, as before, students will use training data to teach A.I. to recognize different types of fish. Each student will rely on their own opinions to train A.I. which means that A.I. will learn with the same biases held by the students.
