Battle Royale
Purpose: Students will use their smart phones and/or ipads in order to direct their robots to battle and immobilize their opponents robots on the class court. The last remaining robot that is mobile and in-bounds wins.
There is no coding in this activity, you will be controlling your robot remotely via either your phone or ipad that I will loan you. This project is meant to be purely fun! If you would like to use your phone, you will need to download the "Lego Commander" App:
Using The App:
- Select the "Lego Commander" App on your phone/ipad. The first image you will see is a picture of a robot (most likely the "Everstorm" robot).
- Select the Bluetooth button in the top left portion of your screen. Follow the instructions that it provides that will allow you to connect your phone/ipad to your robot. If you look at the top of your robot's screen, you can see the name of your robot. You also have the option of changing the name of your robot (Settings/Brick Name).
- You can scroll right/left and view the other robots. Scroll past "Create & Command Your Own Robot - New Custom Robot". As you continue to scroll, you will be viewing game controller interfaces. This app offers you a large number of interfaces that will allow you to control the motors on your robot, in particular so that you can move and control its arm - you can also build a custom interface...just click on the screen. Find an interface that works well for you. When you are ready to begin controlling your robot, select the red wrench in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
